Materials and methods: 70 patients were randomly divided into two groups. In one group, an educational brochure about surgical procedure and treatment details was given to patients(brochure group) and in another group, Information was given by the surgeon to patients(verbal group). The Spielberg Anxiety Inventory (STAI-S) assessed patients' anxiety before intervention and immediately after surgery. Patients' pain was measured using the VAS index immediately and one week after surgery .
Results: 54.28% of patients were male and 45.71% were female. The average age of the patients in the brochure and verbal groups was 8.96±29.68 years and 29.94±6.68 years, respectively. The pre-intervention anxiety of the two groups was statistically comparable. The anxiety of the patients of the two groups was significantly different after the surgery. In the brochure group, the anxiety level before the intervention and after surgery was significantly different.
